Valentia Technologies releases Version 3.0 of Mobile Diabetes Monitoring Application (DiMonX™)

Valentia Technologies today announced the release of an enhanced version of its Mobile Diabetes Monitoring Application (DiMonX™).

DiMonX™ forms part of Valentia's expanding mobile Chronic Disease Management platform. The Chronic Disease Management Platform enables healthcare professionals to manage various chronic conditions in collaboration with their patients using common mobile devices like mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Additionally, patients and their healthcare professionals can view their data online through a dedicated secure patient portal website.

The latest release of the DiMonX™ application is an enhancement to Valentia's existing diabetes mobile system which enables diabetes sufferers to transmit daily diabetes-related data (i.e. glucose, ketones, insulin dosage, carbohydrate intake and diary details) using any mobile phone device. When transmitted, the data is immediately viewable by the patient's healthcare professionals on a PC in a clinic or surgery. The data is also stored on a secure central server where it is time and date stamped.

The transmitted data becomes the patient's diabetic electronic record. The record data can be viewed in both graphical and tabular format, with trends plotted over time. Because data can be viewed by healthcare professionals in real-time, clinical notifications and alerts, when required, can be sent immediately to the patient's phone. Patient data can also be used for medical reviews, scheduling of appointments and research. DiMonX™ also includes a built-in reminder service to remind patients to record values and take appropriate insulin dosages.

The inclusion of a diabetic patient portal website as an integral part of DiMonX™ gives patients access to their own diabetic electronic record, allowing them to more effectively particulate in the management of their condition on an ongoing basis. Additionally, the portal has a dedicated email messaging system allowing patients to communicate by secure email with their healthcare professionals as well as with other patients. The portal also accommodates a rich library of condition-related information, including research, practice guidelines and news about meetings and events.

The DiMonX™ application supports any standard mobile phone. In addition, Valentia has developed a PDA application for DiMonX™ which runs on any version of Windows Mobile Platform. The enhanced features of the PDA application include an intuitive easy-to-use graphical data entry interface. The application also allows patients to view trend values of input data in graphical format on the PDA screen.
